Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) beef bacon (typically about 12 slices)
  • 12 whole milk moz zarella sticks (or low-moisture moz zarella sticks)
  • Cooking oil (not pictured)


Instructions

  1. Take the mozzarella sticks out of their packaging.
  2. For each cheese stick, take a slice of bacon and start by covering one end of the cheese with it. Secure the bacon by inserting a toothpick through it and into the middle of the cheese.
  3. Continue to encase the cheese stick with the bacon, ensuring each wrap slightly overlaps, and fold the bacon over the opposite end. Fix it with another toothpick so that the bacon envelops the entire cheese stick. Put it aside.
  4. Repeat the wrapping process for all the mozzarella sticks.
  5. Place the bacon-covered cheese sticks in the freezer and leave them for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  6. Pour enough cooking oil into a skillet to reach a depth of 2 inches and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  7. Take a few cheese sticks out of the freezer and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  8. Fry them, turning after a few minutes, until the bacon reaches your preferred level of crispiness.
  9. Use a strainer to lift the cooked mozzarella stick from the oil and lay it on a paper towel or paper bag to soak up the excess oil.
  10. Keep frying the remaining cheese sticks in groups until all are cooked.
  11. Take out the toothpicks before serving the mozzarella sticks.
