  • Beef strips, 8 slices
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded, 1 cup (240 ml) (115 grams)
  • Macaroni, 1 cup (240 ml) (200 grams), cooked
  • Barbecue sauce, 1/2 cup (120 ml) (120 milliliters)
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) (5 grams)
  • Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2 grams)
  • Garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2 grams)
  • Onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2 grams)
  • Hamburger buns, 4
  • Lettuce leaves, 4
  • Tomato, sliced, 1 medium
  • Onion, sliced, 1 medium

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and flatten each into a thin patty.
  5. Mix the cooked macaroni with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Place a spoonful of the mac and cheese mixture onto the center of 4 beef patties.
  7. Top each with another beef patty, sealing the edges to enclose the filling.
  8. Grill or pan-cook the beef patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
  9. In a separate pan, cook the bacon slices until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
  10. Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  11. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.
  12. Add a cooked burger patty on top of the lettuce.
  13. Drizzle barbecue sauce over each patty.
  14. Layer with crispy bacon slices, tomato slices, and onion slices.
  15. Place the top half of the bun over the fillings.
  16. Serve the burgers hot.

Notes

  • Mix finely diced onions or mushrooms into the ground beef for a juicier burger.
  • Experiment with unique cheese options like pepper jack or gouda for a different flavor profile.
  • Enhance the smoky taste by grilling the beef patties over wood fire or adding liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce.
