Ingredients

  • – 1/3 cup (80 ml) breadcrumbs
  • – 1 whole slice of bread pulsed into crumbs
  • – 1/4 cup (60 g) grated non-alcoholic cheese
  • – 1/2 cup (120 g) finely chopped onion
  • – 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) dried parsley
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried thyme leaves
  • – 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
  • – Freshly ground black pepper
  • – 1 pound (450 g) ground beef

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to a temperature of 450°F. Cover a baking tray with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, pulsed bread crumbs, grated non-alcoholic cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried thyme, beaten egg, and salt.
  3. After everything is well combined, incorporate the ground beef by hand until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Shape the mixture into balls that are approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter; a cookie dough scoop can be helpful for this.
  5. Arrange the meatballs on a prepared cookie sheet. Cook in the oven for 10 minutes or until they are browned and fully cooked through without any pink in the center.
  6. This recipe yields roughly 20-24 meatballs.

Notes

  • Try using a variety of cheeses for a more flavorful twist.
  • Add a tablespoon of olive oil for a better meatball texture.
  • Customize the taste by experimenting with different herbs and spices.
