Description
A comforting and indulgent baked cauliflower dish topped with Gruyère cheese and sweet caramelized onions, perfect as a side or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 2 cups Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the onions are cooking, steam or boil the cauliflower florets until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
- Spread the cauliflower in a baking dish, season with salt and pepper, and top with the caramelized onions and shredded Gruyère cheese.
- Drizzle with olive oil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve warm as a side dish or appetizer.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with herbs like thyme or rosemary, or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat.
