Ingredients
- 8 slices turkey bacon
- 8 slices bread
- 2 cups (480 ml) shredded beef cheese (8 ounces (227 g)) (225 grams)
- 4 tablespoons (60 ml) vegetable oil (1/2 stick) (57 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil.
- Add the thinly sliced onion to the skillet and sauté for 5 minutes until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- Season the onion and garlic with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook the turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes.
- Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Wipe the skillet clean with a paper towel.
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place 4 slices of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
- Evenly distribute 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the bread slices in the skillet.
- Sprinkle the cooked onion and garlic mixture over the cheese.
- Crumble the cooked turkey bacon and spread it evenly over the onion mixture.
- Top with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top, butter side up.
- Heat the skillet over medium heat and cook until the bottom bread is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Serve warm, sliced in halves or quarters.
