Description

A healthier alternative to traditional bagels, these air fryer protein bagels are protein-packed and customizable for a quick breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • A pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Begin by adding the flour to a medium bowl and combining it with the baking powder.
  2. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add in the cottage cheese.
  3. Use a fork or small rubber spatula to mix until it transforms into a chunky dough.
  4. Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and knead for about 1-2 minutes until you achieve a semi-smooth ball of dough.
  5. Divide the dough into four equal sections.
  6. Roll each piece into a log approximately 6-7 inches long and 3/4 inch thick.
  7. Join the ends to form a bagel shape.
  8. Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk.
  9. Brush the blended egg over each bagel using a rubber brush or pastry brush.
  10. Add your desired toppings.
  11. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F.
  12. Place the bagels in an even layer in the air fryer basket.
  13. Cook the bagels for 15-17 minutes, checking them at around 10 minutes.
  14. Remove the bagels once golden brown and allow them to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
