Description

Delicious, crispy onions made easily in an air fryer, perfect for toppings or snacking.


Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with vinegar)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer


Instructions

  1. Soak the sliced onions in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in one bowl; place breadcrumbs in another bowl.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Dredge each onion slice first in the flour mixture, then in buttermilk, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, then arrange the onions in a single layer.
  6. Spray the tops of the onions with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry for about 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve warm as a snack or topping.
