Description

Learn how to make delicious and crispy Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings at home with this easy recipe. Perfect for game day or any occasion!

Ingredients

  • – 4 pounds (1.81 kg) chicken wings (about 16 whole wings, yielding 32 flats and drumettes)
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) smoked paprika
  • – 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) onion powder
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried thyme
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper
  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot sauce
  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) creamy ranch dressing
  • – 3 tablespoons (45 ml) crumbled feta cheese or goat cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. If you wish, wash the chicken wings under cold water, then dry them thoroughly with paper towels. Place them into a large bowl afterward. Remember to clean your sink and countertops afterward!
  2. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and black pepper to the wings for seasoning. There’s no need for additional salt due to the hot sauce’s inherent saltiness. Leave them to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight if you prefer.
  3. Cook the wings in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 22-25 minutes, doing this in batches. Cooking them for 25 minutes will give you a crispy texture, while 22 minutes will make them juicier but slightly less crisp. I managed to fit 16-18 wings in my air fryer at once. Keep the cooked wings warm on a sheet pan in an oven set to 170°F as you continue air-frying the rest. Alternatively, you can cook and serve them in batches as they finish.
  4. As the wings cook, mix the vegetable oil with the hot sauce until they blend into a smooth sauce.
  5. If you are enhancing your ranch dressing, combine it with the crumbled feta or goat cheese.
  6. Once the wings are cooked, place them in a large mixing bowl and pour the sauce over them, tossing them with a wooden spoon or tongs. Consider wearing an apron since the sauce might splatter. If necessary, do this in parts to make tossing easier. Serve them with the ranch dressing.

Notes

  • Consider using olive oil instead of vegetable oil for a healthier twist.
  • Experiment with various hot sauces to achieve your desired level of spiciness.
  • Enhance the ranch dressing by adding a splash of fresh lemon juice for a tangy flavor.
