A traditional Italian spaghetti sauce that brings families together around the dinner table with its rich flavor and simplicity.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring to combine.
- Season with sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce the heat to low.
- Let the sauce cook for at least 30 minutes to an hour, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning to taste and serve over cooked spaghetti, garnished with fresh parsley.
